PA Secretary of Education to Speak to Class of 2018 High School Students
Pennsylvania Secretary of Education Pedro Rivera will
address the Class of 2018 at Chester County Futures annual graduation
celebration. This event, sponsored by WSFS, takes place at Downingtown Country
Club on Tuesday, May 22, 2018. Chester County Futures proud to announce that 38
high school seniors from throughout Chester County will be celebrated for their
accomplishments.
Each member of the graduating class was invited to bring their parents and mentors to this celebratory dinner. Sponsors and donors generously support this well-deserved evening. The students spent the last four years attending weekly after school meetings where they explored college and career options, and applied and considered the best ways to manage the cost of higher education. Over 90% of our graduating class will be first-generation post-secondary students.
Pedro A. Rivera is a first generation college graduate and earned a Bachelor of Science degree from The Pennsylvania State University, a Master's degree in Education Administration from Cheyney University, and his Superintendent's Letter of Eligibility from Arcadia University.
The celebration is sponsored by WSFS. “We are grateful to WSFS for supporting this year’s Graduation Celebration. This is a very important milestone for our graduates and their families and we are thankful for the opportunity to recognize their achievements in this way. These students are a shining example of just how far determination, planning and commitment can take you.” explained Maria McDonald, Executive Director of Chester County Futures.
