Community collaborates to support local nonprofit, holds field day
Youth from the Bell Tavern community in Downingtown
organized their second annual fundraising event, scheduled for Saturday September 29. Beneficiary Chester County Futures, who offers academic support and
mentoring to motivated, economically disadvantaged youth to succeed in school,
higher education, and life, is honored to receive support through the Olympics
for Little Hearts games.
The Bell Tavern community is working together to teach their
children to be good citizens through “3S”: save, support, and serve. Last year,
Olympics for Little Hearts raised over $2,000 for UNICEF through ticket sales,
donations, and sponsorships.
This year, they wanted to continue the tradition, and sought out an organization working closer to home. The goal was to not only collect donations, but also to bring the community together and raise awareness for Chester County Futures. Organizers shared, “Education is extremely crucial to success, so when we realized that many students who should be educated are not able to we wanted to help.”
The
event will be held at East Ward Elementary School. The day will feature
fun, games, and food. Children will be divided in groups by age, and are
invited to play field day style games. To make a donation, visit: https://give.everydayhero.com/us/olympics-for-little-hearts-for-chester-county-futures-to-sup
